O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.
O blessed Archangel Gabriel, we beseech thee, do thou intercede for us at the throne of divine Mercy in our present necessities, that as thou didst announce to Mary the mystery of the Incarnation, so through thy prayers and patronage in heaven we may obtain the benefits of the same, and sing the praise of God forever in the land of the living. Amen.
Jour 1 : Saint Gabriel, Messenger of God

Let us consider how Saint Gabriel was chosen by God from among all the angels to be His ambassador and the bearer of the most sublime message ever delivered. He is the Angel of the Annunciation, the herald of the Incarnation. His very name means “Strength of God,” signifying the power of the message he carries. He stands before the throne of God, ever ready to do His will. Let us admire his prompt obedience and his profound reverence in the presence of the Most High, and learn from him to listen attentively for God’s voice in our own lives.

Jour 2 : Saint Gabriel, Strength of God
Méditation
The name Gabriel signifies “Strength of God.” When he appears, he brings not only a message but also the divine strength to fulfill it. To the prophet Daniel, he brought understanding and fortitude. To Zacharias, he brought the promise of a son in his old age, a promise that required great faith. To the Blessed Virgin Mary, he brought the strength to accept her sublime and daunting vocation. In our own weakness, let us turn to Saint Gabriel, asking him to fortify our souls against temptation and despair.

Consider the scene in the temple, where the aged priest Zacharias was offering incense. Saint Gabriel appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar, and announced the miraculous birth of John the Baptist. When Zacharias doubted, Gabriel reminded him of his station: “I am Gabriel, who stand before God.” This encounter teaches us the importance of faith in God’s promises, no matter how impossible they may seem to our human reason. It also serves as a warning against doubt, which can render us mute to the praise of God. Let us pray for a faith as strong as the message Gabriel delivered.

With profound reverence, he entered the humble dwelling at Nazareth and greeted the future Mother of God with the words, “Hail, full of grace.” He delivered the message that would change the course of history, inviting Mary to become the Mother of the Saviour. Let us contemplate the humility of the angel and the Virgin, and the immense love of God who stooped so low to save mankind. Let us learn from Gabriel to approach holy things and holy people with the utmost reverence.

He teaches us to use our words for the glory of God and the good of our neighbor, to speak the truth in love, and to be messengers of peace and reconciliation. Let us examine how we use the gift of speech and communication, and ask Saint Gabriel to help us sanctify it.

Let us turn to him in our own gardens of agony, confident that he will bring us heavenly strength and consolation.

He came to the Blessed Virgin, whose whole life was a prayer and a longing for the Messiah. Saint Gabriel encourages in us a desire for holiness and a longing for God. He fans the flame of our prayer and carries our petitions to the throne of the Most High. Let us ask him to purify our desires, that we may seek only what is pleasing to God.

As we conclude this novena, let us place all our petitions with confidence into the hands of Saint Gabriel. He who carried the greatest of all messages is well-suited to carry ours to heaven. Let us trust in his powerful intercession and in the goodness of God. Whatever the outcome of our specific requests, let us resolve to accept it as part of God’s loving plan. Like Saint Gabriel, let our life’s mission be to hear God’s word and to proclaim it, by our words and by our deeds, until we are called to behold the face of God in heaven, in the company of Gabriel and all the angels and saints.
