Opening Prayer (to be said each day)
O most holy Apostle, Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honoureth and invoketh thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, and of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, who am so miserable. Make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded to thee, to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of.
Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolation and succour of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly in… (Here make your request) …and that I may praise God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity. Amen.
Jour 1 : Day 1: Faith in God’s Power
Méditation
Let us meditate upon the faith of Saint Jude, who, being one of the twelve chosen Apostles, received the teachings of our Lord directly from His divine lips. He believed with an unwavering heart in Christ’s divinity, His power over sin and death, and His promise of eternal life. In our own trials, when faith may falter and the path seems obscure, let us look to Saint Jude as a model of steadfast belief. He who stood by the Lord in His earthly ministry now stands before His throne in Heaven, ready to intercede for us who struggle in this vale of tears. Let us ask, through his merits, for an increase in that most precious gift of faith, that we may see God’s hand even in our heaviest crosses.

O glorious Apostle, Saint Jude, who didst embrace the true Faith and give thy life for it, obtain for me a lively faith, that I may be fortified against the temptations of the devil and the doubts of my own weak heart. Help me to believe firmly in God’s love and power, especially when I am tempted to despair. Intercede for me, that my faith may be the light that guides me through my present darkness. Amen.
Jour 2 : Day 2: Hope in Desperate Times
Méditation
Saint Jude is invoked as the Patron of Hopeless Cases, for he brings aid when all human hope has vanished. Let us consider the virtue of hope, which is not a mere optimism, but a firm confidence in God’s promises. It is the anchor of the soul, holding it fast amidst the tempests of life. When we are afflicted, when our prayers seem to go unanswered, and when despair whispers in our ear, let us turn to Saint Jude. He reminds us that with God, nothing is impossible. He who is a kinsman of the Lord Jesus has a special power to obtain for us the grace of supernatural hope, which looks beyond present sorrows to the eternal joys of Heaven.

O blessed Saint Jude, who art a beacon of hope to the afflicted, fill my soul with a holy confidence in God’s mercy. In my distress, I feel my hope waver; I pray thee, obtain for me the grace to hope against all hope. Jour 3 : Day 3: Ardent Charity
Méditation
The Apostle Saint Jude was filled with a burning charity, a profound love for God and for his neighbour. This love compelled him to travel to distant lands, to preach the Gospel in the face of persecution, and ultimately to shed his blood for Christ. His Epistle exhorts us to build ourselves up in our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, and keeping ourselves in the love of God. Let us examine our own hearts. Is our love for God fervent? Does it translate into acts of charity and mercy towards others? Let us ask Saint Jude to enkindle in our souls a spark of that apostolic fire which consumed him.

Free me from all selfishness, bitterness, and coldness of heart. Jour 4 : Day 4: Patience in Affliction
Méditation
Consider the immense patience of Saint Jude. As an Apostle, he endured wearisome journeys, the scorn of unbelievers, the hardships of poverty, and the constant threat of death. He learned from his Divine Master that the path to glory is the path of the Cross. In our own lives, we are often impatient with our sufferings. We complain of our burdens and seek immediate relief. Saint Jude teaches us the value of patient endurance, of uniting our small sufferings with the great Passion of Christ. It is through patience that we possess our souls and prove our love for God.

O most patient Saint Jude, who didst bear all trials for the love of Christ, I implore thy assistance in my present affliction. Obtain for me the grace of patience, that I may not murmur against the crosses which God permits me to carry. Help me to endure my sufferings with a calm and resigned spirit, trusting that through them, God is working for my sanctification and salvation. Amen.
Jour 5 : Day 5: Humility before God
Méditation
Humility is the foundation of all virtues. Our Lord Himself said, ‘Learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart.’ Saint Jude, as a close follower of Jesus, learned this lesson well. He did not seek honour or prominence among the Apostles, and even in his Epistle, he calls himself simply ‘a servant of Jesus Christ.’ He knew that all good comes from God, and that of ourselves we are nothing. In our pride, we often rely on our own strength and wisdom, only to fall. Let us ask Saint Jude to obtain for us a truly humble heart, which acknowledges our complete dependence upon God for all things.

O humble Saint Jude, who didst shun the praise of men to seek only the glory of God, pray for me, that I may be delivered from the sin of pride. Obtain for me a spirit of true humility, that I may recognize my own unworthiness and place all my trust in God alone. Teach me to serve others with a lowly heart and to rejoice when I am forgotten or esteemed as little. Amen.
Jour 6 : Day 6: Perseverance in Prayer
Méditation
Our Lord taught His disciples to pray always and not to lose heart. Saint Jude understood the necessity of persevering prayer. He knew that it is not enough to begin to pray, but that we must continue with constancy, even when the heavens seem as brass and our petitions seem to go unheard. It is this perseverance that tests our faith and purifies our intentions. In our current need, we may be tempted to abandon prayer, thinking it is of no use. Let Saint Jude’s example encourage us to persist, to knock with confidence at the door of God’s mercy, assured that in His own time, He will answer us.

O faithful Saint Jude, who didst persevere in prayer with the other Apostles in the upper room, obtain for me the gift of perseverance in my supplications. When my soul is weary and my spirit dry, sustain me in my resolve to pray. Intercede for me, that I may never cease to call upon God, my Father, with the trust of a child, until He grants what is for my greater good. Amen.
Jour 7 : Day 7: Fidelity to Christ
Méditation
Saint Jude was a kinsman of Our Lord, a relationship that bound him to Jesus by blood. Yet, he was bound more closely still by his unwavering fidelity. While others abandoned the Lord, Saint Jude remained a faithful servant and friend. He warns us in his Epistle against those who would lead the faithful astray, urging us to ‘contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.’ In a world that so often rejects Christ and His teachings, we are called to a similar fidelity. Let us ask Saint Jude for the grace to remain loyal to our baptismal promises and to the one, true Church, no matter the cost.

O most faithful Saint Jude, who didst remain true to Jesus even unto a martyr’s death, protect me from all that would draw me away from Him. Strengthen my will, that I may be loyal to my duties and constant in my love for God. Preserve me in the true Faith, and grant that I may never be ashamed to confess the name of Jesus Christ before men. Amen.
Jour 8 : Day 8: Courage in Witnessing
Méditation
To be an Apostle is to be a witness. Saint Jude was a courageous witness to the Resurrection of Christ. He did not shrink from proclaiming the truth, even when it brought him into conflict with the powerful and led to his martyrdom. He faced down threats, endured torments, and laid down his life, all for the sake of the Gospel. We too are called to be witnesses in our own state of life. We are often timid, afraid of what others might think or say if we live our faith openly. Let us pray to Saint Jude for a share of his apostolic courage, that we may bear witness to Christ in both word and deed.

O courageous martyr, Saint Jude, who didst not fear those who could kill the body, but feared God alone, obtain for me a holy boldness in my faith. Drive from my heart all human respect and cowardice. Grant that I may have the courage to stand for what is right, to defend the truth, and to live as a faithful Catholic, even if it means suffering ridicule or persecution. Amen.
Jour 9 : Day 9: Trustful Surrender
Méditation
On this final day of our novena, let us meditate on the virtue of trustful surrender to God’s will. After we have prayed, after we have done all that is in our power, we must place the outcome in the hands of our loving Father. Saint Jude, in his life and martyrdom, exemplified this complete abandonment to Divine Providence. He trusted that God’s plan, though mysterious, was always perfect. As we conclude our petitions, let us imitate him. Let us surrender our will, our fears, and our desires to God, confident that He will arrange all things for our ultimate good, whether He grants our specific request or gives us the grace to bear our cross.

O blessed Apostle Saint Jude, my powerful intercessor, I have laid my petition before thee for nine days. Now, with a heart full of trust, I surrender my cause into the hands of God. Obtain for me the grace to accept His holy will, whatever it may be. O glorious Apostle, Saint Jude, who didst leave us an Epistle as a rule of the perfect life, an antidote against the heresies of thy day, and a motive to fight for the Faith; obtain for us that we may be preserved from every evil doctrine, and that we may never listen to the teachings of perverse men, but that we may walk in the light of the true Faith all the days of our life.
Saint Jude, Apostle, martyr and kinsman of Our Lord Jesus Christ, of Mary and of Joseph, intercede for us.
