Prière Introductive
Introductory Prayer for Each Day
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
O glorious Saint Andrew, chosen by Our Lord to be the first of His Apostles, we venerate thy faith and thy love. It was thou who didst first teach thy brother, Saint Peter, to know the Messias. By the glory which thou didst receive in thy holy apostolate and in thy triumphant martyrdom, I beseech thee to obtain for me the grace to live a life worthy of a true follower of Christ. Assist me in my present necessity and obtain for me the special favor I ask in this novena, if it be for the glory of God and the good of my soul.
(Here make your request)
Jour 1 : Day 1: The Call of Saint Andrew
Méditation
Let us consider how Saint Andrew, being a disciple of Saint John the Baptist, was among the first to hear him declare of Our Lord, “Behold the Lamb of God.” Without hesitation, he and another disciple followed Jesus. Our Lord turned and asked them, “What seek you?” They said to him, “Rabbi, where dwellest thou?” And he said to them, “Come and see.” They came, and saw where he abode, and they stayed with him that day. Let us admire the promptness of Saint Andrew’s response to grace, and resolve to follow the call of Christ in our own lives with the same readiness and without delay.
Prière du jour
O glorious Saint Andrew, who didst so readily obey the call of the Master, obtain for me the grace to respond with a generous heart to all the inspirations of God. Grant that I may leave behind all that hinders my journey towards Him, and follow Christ faithfully, even when the path is difficult. Through thy intercession, may I seek only to dwell with Him forever. Amen.
Jour 2 : Day 2: The Fraternal Apostle
Méditation
Let us meditate on the first act of Saint Andrew after he had found the Messias. The Gospel tells us, “He first findeth his brother Simon, and saith to him: We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus.” Consider the charity and zeal that filled Andrew’s heart. His first thought was not for himself, but to share the immense treasure he had discovered with his own brother. He became an apostle to his own family. Let us learn from him the duty of evangelization, especially towards those whom God has placed closest to us.
Prière du jour
O zealous Apostle, Saint Andrew, who didst share the joy of knowing Christ with thy brother Peter, enkindle in my heart a fire of apostolic love. Banish all human respect and timidity, that I may not be ashamed to speak of Jesus to others. Grant me the wisdom and charity to lead my family, friends, and all whom I meet to the saving knowledge of Our Lord. Amen.
Jour 3 : Day 3: Faith in God’s Providence
Méditation
Let us reflect upon Saint Andrew’s role in the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves. When Our Lord asked whence they might buy bread for the multitude, it was Andrew who said, “There is a boy here that hath five barley loaves, and two fishes; but what are these for so many?” Though his faith was yet imperfect, he brought to the Lord the little that was available. He presented the humble means through which Christ would work a stupendous miracle. Let us learn from Saint Andrew to offer our small efforts and meager resources to God, trusting that in His hands they can accomplish great things.
Prière du jour
O holy Saint Andrew, who didst present the humble loaves and fishes to the Lord, teach me to have boundless confidence in God’s providence. Help me to offer my small talents, my prayers, and my daily works to Jesus, no matter how insignificant they may seem. Obtain for me the grace to trust that He can multiply my efforts for His glory and for the good of souls. Amen.
Jour 4 : Day 4: The Seeker of Truth
Méditation
Let us consider how, after Our Lord’s discourse on the destruction of the Temple, Saint Andrew, with Peter, James, and John, came to Him privately on the Mount of Olives. They asked Him, “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall begin to be fulfilled?” This question prompted Our Lord’s great prophecy concerning the end of the world and His second coming. Let us imitate Saint Andrew’s desire for heavenly things and his holy curiosity about the divine mysteries, turning always to Jesus as the source of all truth.
Prière du jour
O wise Apostle, Saint Andrew, who sought to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of God, obtain for me a sincere desire for heavenly wisdom. Turn my heart away from the fleeting concerns of this world and fix my gaze upon eternity. May I live each day in holy vigilance, preparing for the coming of Christ, so that I may be found worthy to stand before the Son of man. Amen.
Jour 5 : Day 5: The Missionary Spirit
Méditation
Tradition holds that after Pentecost, Saint Andrew traveled far and wide to preach the Gospel. He journeyed through Scythia and Greece, enduring great hardships and perils for the love of Christ. He embraced his apostolic mission with tireless zeal, seeking to bring the light of the Faith to those sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death. Let us consider our own mission, given at Baptism, to be witnesses of Christ in the world, and ask for a share in Saint Andrew’s missionary spirit.
Prière du jour
O indefatigable missionary, Saint Andrew, who didst travel to distant lands to proclaim the name of Jesus, infuse into my soul a portion of thy apostolic zeal. Make me a courageous witness to the Faith in my daily life. Grant that by my words and deeds, I may draw others to the love of Our Saviour, for whom thou didst labor and suffer so greatly. Amen.
Jour 6 : Day 6: The Preacher of the Cross
Méditation
Let us meditate upon the courage of Saint Andrew in preaching Christ crucified. In the city of Patras, he fearlessly proclaimed the Gospel, converting many, including the wife of the proconsul Aegeas. When the proconsul commanded him to cease preaching and to sacrifice to idols, Andrew refused, declaring that he preached the mystery of the Cross, by which Christ redeemed the world. Let us admire this holy fortitude and pray for the strength to profess our faith openly, without fear of the world’s contempt or persecution.
Prière du jour
O courageous preacher of the Cross, Saint Andrew, who didst not shrink from the threats of the powerful, obtain for me the gift of fortitude. Strengthen my conviction and my will, that I may never deny Christ or His holy doctrine. May I glory in the Cross of my Saviour and profess my Catholic faith with courage and charity, both in word and in deed. Amen.
Jour 7 : Day 7: Patience in Suffering
Méditation
Let us consider the sufferings of Saint Andrew. For his faithfulness to Christ, he was condemned by the wicked proconsul to be scourged and then crucified. He endured the cruel lashes not with complaint, but with joy, knowing that he was being made a sharer in the Passion of his beloved Master. He saw his sufferings as a means of uniting himself more perfectly to the Saviour who had suffered so much for him. Let us ask for the grace to bear our own trials with patience and to unite them to the Cross of Christ.
Prière du jour
O patient Saint Andrew, who didst joyfully embrace suffering for the sake of Christ, teach me the value of the cross in my own life. Obtain for me the grace of patience in all my afflictions, sicknesses, and tribulations. Help me to see the hand of God in every trial and to unite my small sufferings with the redemptive Passion of Jesus. Amen.
Jour 8 : Day 8: The Love of the Cross
Méditation
Let us contemplate the final moments of Saint Andrew’s life. When he was led to the place of his martyrdom and beheld the cross prepared for him, he did not tremble with fear, but was filled with a holy joy. He greeted it with love, crying out: “O good Cross, made beautiful by the body of the Lord! Long have I desired thee, and now thou art set up for my longing soul. Receive me, and bear me to my Master.” For two days he hung upon the cross, preaching to the people who gathered around. Let us pray for a similar love of the Cross, which is the key to eternal life.
Prière du jour
O glorious Martyr, Saint Andrew, who didst greet the instrument of thy death as the key to paradise, obtain for me a true love for the Holy Cross of Jesus. May I embrace the crosses of my daily life with love and resignation to God’s will. When my final hour comes, grant that, through thy intercession, I may look upon the Cross with hope and love, and be brought safely to the Master whom thou didst so ardently desire. Amen.
Jour 9 : Day 9: The Intercession of Saint Andrew
Méditation
Let us consider Saint Andrew, now reigning in glory with Christ in Heaven. Having fought the good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith, he has received the crown of righteousness. From his place in Heaven, he does not forget us who still struggle in this valley of tears. He is a powerful intercessor before the throne of God. Let us, with great confidence, place our needs and intentions in his hands, trusting that he who led his own brother to Christ will also lead us and our petitions to the feet of the Saviour.
Prière du jour
O triumphant Saint Andrew, who now dost enjoy the vision of God, look down with pity upon me, thy humble client. I place before thee the special intention of this novena (Here mention your request). I beseech thee, by thy glorious martyrdom and by thy love for Jesus and Mary, to present my prayer to God. If it be for His greater glory and the good of my soul, obtain for me this favor. Above all, obtain for me the grace of final perseverance, that I may one day join thee in praising God for all eternity. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
