Prière Introductive
Introductory Prayer for Each Day
O Jesus, living in Mary,
Come and live in Thy servants,
In the spirit of Thy holiness,
In the fullness of Thy might,
In the truth of Thy virtues,
In the perfection of Thy ways,
In the communion of Thy mysteries.
Subdue every hostile power,
In Thy spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen.
(From a prayer by St. Louis de Montfort)
Jour 1 : Day 1: The Acknowledgment of Mary’s Queenship
Méditation
Let us consider the sublime dignity of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. By her divine maternity, she is the Mother of the King of kings. By her perfect union with the will of God, she partook in the work of Redemption more than any other creature. God Himself has crowned her, not with a crown of gold and precious stones, but with the glory of her virtues and the power of her intercession. To acknowledge her as Queen is to acknowledge the wisdom and love of God, who has exalted the humble and given us a powerful advocate and a most tender Mother. Let us resolve today to honour her royal dignity in all our thoughts, words, and deeds.
Prière du jour
O Mary, my Sovereign Queen, I prostrate myself at thy feet, acknowledging thy dominion over me and over all that I possess. I rejoice in thy glory, and I bless God for having raised thee to such a height of power and majesty. I am but a poor sinner, unworthy to be thy servant, yet, moved by thy maternal tenderness, I come to offer thee my homage. Accept, O great Queen, this humble tribute of my reverence. I desire to serve thee faithfully all the days of my life, and I implore thee to receive me into the number of thy devoted children. Amen.
Jour 2 : Day 2: The Heart of the Queen
Méditation
The heart of a queen ought to be great, noble, and generous. What then shall we say of the Heart of Mary? Her Heart is a furnace of divine love, a treasure-house of mercy, and a safe refuge for sinners. It is a Heart that has felt the deepest sorrows, yet has never ceased to love and to trust. It is a Heart perfectly conformed to the Heart of Jesus, beating in unison with His divine intentions. To ask Mary to reign as Queen of our hearts is to ask that she might fashion our hearts after the model of her own: pure, humble, patient, and full of charity.
Prière du jour
O Immaculate Heart of Mary, most admirable and most pure, I desire to consecrate my own poor heart to thee. Take it, O glorious Queen, and purify it from every stain of sin. Warm it with the fire of thy holy love, and mould it in the likeness of the Heart of Jesus. Be thou the Queen of my heart, ruling over all its affections, desires, and movements. Let my heart be no longer mine, but entirely thine, and through thee, entirely the property of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Amen.
Jour 3 : Day 3: Renouncing the Spirit of the World
Méditation
To establish a kingdom, one must first cast out all usurpers. If Mary is to reign in our hearts, we must first banish all that is opposed to her rule: the spirit of the world, with its vanities, its false maxims, and its sinful pleasures. The world promises happiness but gives only unrest and disillusion. Our Queen, on the contrary, offers a peace which the world cannot give. Let us, therefore, make a firm resolution to renounce the devil, his works, and his pomps, so that our hearts may be a throne prepared exclusively for our rightful Sovereign.
Prière du jour
O Mary, Queen of Hearts, behold at thy feet a soul that has too often given place to thine enemies. I detest and renounce the spirit of the world, the love of riches, and the pursuit of vain honours. I renounce my own self-will, which has so often led me astray from the path of thy Son. Cast out, O powerful Queen, all that displeases thee in my heart. Establish in it thy reign of purity, humility, and love, so that I may henceforth live only for thee and for Jesus. Amen.
Jour 4 : Day 4: The Grace of Self-Knowledge
Méditation
True devotion to our Queen begins with a sincere knowledge of ourselves. Without the light of grace, we are blind to our own misery, our weakness, and our inclination to evil. We see ourselves as worthy of esteem, when in truth we are but dust and ashes, and deserving of God’s just punishments. It is only when we understand our own nothingness that we can truly appreciate the need for a powerful protector and guide. Let us ask Mary, Seat of Wisdom, to obtain for us this grace of self-knowledge, that we may cast ourselves with greater confidence into the arms of her mercy.
Prière du jour
O Mirror of Justice, Immaculate Virgin Mary, obtain for me the grace to see myself as God sees me. Unveil to my soul its secret faults, its hidden pride, and its many infidelities. Let this knowledge not cast me into despair, but rather fill me with a holy confusion and a profound humility. Seeing my own unworthiness, may I fly to thee, my Queen and my Mother, and trust no longer in my own strength, but solely in thy powerful intercession and maternal protection. Amen.
Jour 5 : Day 5: The Knowledge of Mary
Méditation
After having considered our own misery, let us lift our eyes to the perfections of our glorious Queen. Let us meditate upon her profound humility, her angelic purity, her unwavering faith, her ardent charity, and her heroic patience. She is the masterpiece of the Most High, adorned with every grace and virtue. The more we know her, the more we shall love her; and the more we love her, the more we shall desire to imitate her and to see her reign in our hearts. Let us beg the Holy Ghost to reveal to us the wonders of Mary.
Prière du jour
O Mary, conceived without sin, masterpiece of the Holy Ghost, I rejoice in the multitude of graces and virtues with which God has enriched thee. Thou art fairer than the moon, brighter than the sun, and terrible as an army set in array. I desire to know thee more, that I may love thee more ardently. Grant, O Mother of Divine Grace, that I may contemplate thy virtues, and by imitating them, may render my heart a more worthy dwelling for thee and for thy Divine Son. Amen.
Jour 6 : Day 6: The Consecration of the Intellect
Méditation
The reign of Mary must extend to every faculty of our soul, beginning with the intellect. Our minds are often filled with darkness, doubt, and vain curiosity. By consecrating our intellect to Mary, we place our thoughts under her protection. We ask her, the Seat of Wisdom, to enlighten our minds with the light of faith, to preserve us from error, and to guide our reason in all things toward the truth, which is her Son, Jesus Christ. A mind subject to Mary is a mind at peace, secure from the snares of the serpent.
Prière du jour
O Queen of the Apostles and Mother of Truth, I consecrate to thee my intellect and all my thoughts. Dispel from my mind the darkness of ignorance and error. Grant me a firm and unshakable faith. Protect me from all temptations against belief, and from the dangers of a proud and curious spirit. May my mind be ever occupied with the contemplation of divine truths, and may I always think in a manner pleasing to thee and to thy Son, that I may one day see Him face to face in heaven. Amen.
Jour 7 : Day 7: The Consecration of the Will
Méditation
After the intellect, we must surrender our will to our Queen. Our will is weak, inconstant, and often rebellious against the law of God. Left to itself, it chooses its own pleasure over the will of its Creator. By consecrating our will to Mary, we unite it to her most holy and perfect will, which was always in perfect conformity with the will of God. She will strengthen it in moments of temptation, direct it in times of uncertainty, and help us to say in all circumstances, with her and with her Son: ‘Not my will, but Thine, be done.’
Prière du jour
O Virgin most faithful, whose whole life was a perfect ‘Fiat’ to the will of God, I consecrate to thee my will. Too often has it been a slave to my passions and to the spirit of the world. Take it, I beseech thee, and make it docile to the inspirations of grace. Obtain for me the strength to overcome my evil inclinations, and the courage to embrace the sacrifices which God may ask of me. May my will be so united to thine that I may desire nothing but what thou desirest, and what is the holy will of God. Amen.
Jour 8 : Day 8: The Consecration of the Body and Senses
Méditation
Our bodies are temples of the Holy Ghost, and as such, they must be kept in holiness and purity. The world, the flesh, and the devil constantly seek to defile this sacred temple. Who can better guard it than the Queen of Virgins, the Immaculate Mary? By placing our bodies and all our senses under her special protection, we ask her to be the guardian of our purity. She will clothe us in the armour of modesty and help us to control our senses, that they may serve not for sin, but for the glory of God.
Prière du jour
O Queen of Virgins, Lily of perfect purity, I place my body and all my senses under thy special protection. I consecrate to thee my eyes, that they may not look upon vanity; my ears, that they may be closed to sinful conversations; my tongue, that it may not offend in word. Guard me, O my Mother, in temptations. Preserve me from all that could tarnish the virtue of holy purity. Grant that I may so honour my body on earth that it may one day rise in glory to praise God with thee for all eternity. Amen.
Jour 9 : Day 9: The Solemn Enthronement of Mary
Méditation
Today, we solemnly enthrone Mary as the absolute Queen of our hearts. This is not a mere sentiment, but a total gift of ourselves to her, that she may dispose of us and all that we have for the greater glory of God. By this holy slavery of love, we do not lose our freedom; rather, we find true liberty from the tyranny of sin. Her reign in our hearts is the reign of Jesus. She comes not alone, but brings her Son with her. Let us rejoice and give our final, irrevocable ‘yes’ to her maternal dominion, which will lead us securely to the kingdom of Heaven.
Prière du jour
O Mary, Queen of all Hearts, accept the solemn offering I make this day. I choose thee now, in the presence of the whole court of Heaven, for my Mother and my Queen. I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present and future; leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God, in time and in eternity. Amen.
Prière Conclusive
Concluding Prayer for Each Day
O Queen of my heart, my advocate and my Mother, I place all my trust in thee. Through thy powerful intercession, I hope to obtain from Jesus the grace to be faithful to the promises of my baptism and to the consecration I make to thee in this novena. Reign over me, O glorious Sovereign, and never permit me to be separated from thee or from thy Divine Son. Amen.
(Recite one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be for the intentions of the Holy Father.)
